iPad 3 What you need to know

As we inch closer to the months of February and March, this means we are also inching towards the release of the next generation iPad, rumored iPad 3. We are going to round up every single rumor and leak that we think will make it’s way to the iPad 3 right here in this post!

Let’s start off simple, design! Rumors have been surging around about the iPad being a little thicker to make way for a larger battery to have better performance for 4G LTE and possibly a faster and multi-core processor. Apple products have gone through this phase before, in the iPhone, between the iPhone 2G (1st generation), it was a little more flat, but the 3G was rounded and thicker too, but it felt thinner thanks to it’s tapered design. Some pretty neat tricks that Apple pulls, feels thinner, but either the same thickness or a little more thicker.

Next up on the list is the size and configurations. We will still see the 9.7-inch iPad, they usually don’t change that often. I personally don’t buy that Apple ia going to make a cheaper iPad or smaller iPad. I just don’t see a market for a smaller iPad and we rarely hear people complain on the size of the iPad. Let’s just stick with 9.7 as the magic number… for now anyways.

For the configurations side on this, the iPad is currently set at 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, but with iBooks 2.0 bringing textbooks to the table, and most books are between 1-2 GB, we might see a shift in the configurations, starting off at 32GB and going to 128GB. This would be a huge game changer, as for more bang for your buck. We aren’t totally sold, but trust us, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Speed, Apple is somewhat of a speed freak if you ask me. They like specs, but even though they usually don’t have the best on the market, they design their software to make the hardware go at a million miles per hour. I like that. If Apple follows their trend, next processor on the list is A6. No, this isn’t a 6 cylinder Audi, but this is a faster dual-core or possibly a quad-core processor that might be clocking in at 1.2GHZ to 1.5GHZ. Now for RAM, we might actually get the full 1GB here, that would be nice.

Now for connectivity, what kinds of networks can we use? If the rumored thickness is true, this adds space for a full 4G LTE radio, and since the iPad is so big, they can put one far away from each other. We expect AT&T and Verizon to get a 4G LTE model and maybe even Sprint. I think its time Apple to upgrade to 4G LTE.

We’re almost their, second to last is Camera. What can we see on the iPad 3 in terms of the camera. With the iPad 2 getting the same camera that is found in the iPod Touch, just a 720P resolution sensor, we might see a bump up to either a 5 or 8-megapixel camera. 1080P HD video recording is a no brainer.

Lastly, the display. We usually like to save the best for last, and this is definitely the case here. We expect Apple to take the tablet world by storm this year, introducing a new Retina display for iPad. The resolution is going to be mind boggling. The tablets of todays market are sub 1080P, some are right at 1080P. But if they introduce a tablet with 326 pixels per inch, it would be beyond 1080P. This would consume a lot of juice, so this is why we get a little thicker device, but just few more millimeters, adds a whole bunch of more capacity.

All in all, we’re inching closer to the date that we find out if we’re right or wrong on our predictions. Is Apple going to take the tablet world by storm this year? We sure think so. The iPad 3 is going to be a thicker, quad-core tablet with retina display, 1080P video recording, 4G LTE, and maybe a larger capacity. That sounds like a winner to us, but of course, we have to wait and see!
