Well all good things come to an end and this is exactly what is happening over at Verizon Wireless. Come April 22nd, you will have to pay $30 to upgrade your device at the end of your 2 year contracts. As if Verizon didn’t come under enough fire when they tried to instate a $2 bill-payment fee. I guess some things never change right?
Here it is straight from the mouth of Verizon:
This fee will help us continue to provide customers with the level of service and support they have come to expect which includes Wireless Workshops, online educational tools, and consultations with experts who provide advice and guidance on devices that are more sophisticated than ever.
Now whether you believe that is up to you but Verizon does note that there are ways to mitigate this fee. By taking advantage of their trade in program you can lower the fee or skip it altogether. Verizon joins the ranks of AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile in offering upgrade fees. It was just this past February that AT&T doubled its upgrade fee from $18 to $36.
