Microsoft Kin Two Review

Microsoft came out with Windows Mobile Phone 7 Series in late 2009, and here are the so called “Pink” phones. They are the Kin One and Kin Two for Verizon Wireless. We managed to get our hands on the Kin Two, but the Kin One looks like the Palm Pre but a little squeezed together. But we like the form factor of the Kin Two more then the form factor of the Kin One.

Hardware

The hardware of this device isn’t absolutely impressive over other smart phones on Verizon’s network. But for the price and the form factor, this is pretty good.

It’s small, easy to hold, and the keyboard is pretty nice, no virtual keyboard, just the slide out horizontal physical keyboard.

The screen is 3.4″, capacitive, and supports multi-touch. ( Applause )

The screen is a good size, .1″ smaller than the iPhone, but not noticeable.

Software

The Kin OS is new, fresh, and runs better than any Win Mo device 6.5 or back.. Yes their is the Windows lag, but over the other windows OS phones, this one throws sand in the faces of the other Windows Phone..

I never had a big lag on this device.

The Kin OS is pretty cool overall. It merges all of you social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc. All on one page. Easy and simple.

But no app store! NO APPS :-(

This is where I am really disappointed by Microsoft. No apps, games, or cool programs.. This thing doesn’t even have a calendar! But Microsoft said that they merge Windows Mobile 7 Series with Kin and add the App store to the device. This can go both ways so don’t quote me on that.

The browser on this phone is plain.. But has no YouTube support. I have tried everything, but I never got a single YouTube video to play on this device. This is a really big CON for me because I am a big YouTuber, I watch videos, I comment, thumbs up, and interact with the community, and with no support as what I can see, THIS THING IS BELOW PAR ON THE BROWSER!

Final Verdict

OK so I will stop ranting about this device, let’s get a overall verdict about this Kin Two.

I like the UI, its easy to use, and pretty cool, and has some neat features included.

But with a lack of a App store, calendar, and a below par browser. This phone has a lot of room for improvement. But being this is the first line of devices, I can see newer models releasing.

I like the phone, but this is not a full SMART PHONE! It’s a ” SMART FEATURE PHONE “

It has smart phone features, but also does things like a feature phone.

So my recommendations are if you are looking for a fun phone for social networking with all your sites, then you have a winner.

But if you want a smart phone, go ahead buy something else, because you will be paying the same amount of money per month, since this thing runs you 30 a month, so I say spend a little extra, and then pay the same as you would pay for this per month.

Thank you guys for reading this review on the Microsoft Kin Two. I will see you guys in the next post!

Motorola Devour Review

So Motorola later came out with the Devour, which is the little brother/sister to the Droid.

But there are a lot of things that you could of gotten on the Droid that works much better on the Droid, and works slower or maybe doesn’t even work on the Devour.

One of them is the upgrade to Android 2.1 which will then enable you to have multi-touch on your android device, which the Droid can have, but the Devour not having because it is running MotoBlur.

Hardware

The hardware on this thing is lacking, in terms of processing power, this is about half of the Droid, but the size of this phone definitely is larger then the Droid.

This is built out of Aluminum, just like the MacBook Pro, but it’s heavy, and thick. Feels like a solid device though. But when you take into perspective the power in the phone, that’s where you really get disappointed.

The screen is 3.1″, but the front of the device is quite large, the screen could of been extended, and those weird borders around the screen could be taken out. Also the lack of Multi-Touch as I stated earlier in this post and also in the video above.

Software

The software is OK. Android 1.6 isn’t the newest version, but  it works quite well, but with only five home screens, instead of the seven on 2.1 it limits the apps you can have on the home screen(s). You can still put apps in the door full of apps.

MotoBlur

MotoBlur is very interesting to me, it works, and it does what it is supposed to do. And I understand this phone was meant for the social networking type people instead of a hardcore smartphone like the Incredible and Droid. MotoBlur brings all your social networking sites together on one page, and gives you the latest on what is happening with your facebook friends, etc.

Final Verdict

Overall this phone is a fine phone. The size is something you want to keep in mind with you, but if you are OK with a phone that thick, and does not support multi-touch, but you love social networking, and hate Microsoft! Then you have a winner right here. Go check it out the Motorola Devour with MotoBlur! And hey, Megan Fox may swing by your home?

What? You never know what may happen!

Talk to you guys in the next post!

Hello everyone. This is Alex from Gadget Experts. Today I will be giving you a hands on demo of the 27″ iMac. It’s a very impressive computer. I could see great multi tasking with such a great screen real estate. Watching and editing video on this iMac is probably the best out there in the desktop market. This iMac features four USB 2.0 ports, a firewire connection, mini display, and a headphone jack. Well, if you want to get a closer look at Apple’s newest iMac please be sure to watch the video. The 27″ iMac starts at $1699 and ends at $1999. I’m not going to list all of the specifications, because you can go to Apple.com to find out all of that information.

Motorola Devour Software Tour

Hey guys what’s up it’s me Marco and today I got the Motorola Devour, and I am giving you guys a visual tour of the software!

Ok you guys, The Devour runs Android 1.6 with MotoBlur. If you don’t know what MotoBlur, I will show it in the upcoming review, but for a quick run through: MotoBlur are widgets that you have on your home screen(s) that will update you from all your social networking sites such as: Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc

Android 1.6 does not support multi-touch, the lack of that really brings the phone down from being good to Ok.

I am just so used to multi-touch gestures that I find myself doing pinch to zoom on single touch screens like this one. Also this phone has a lot of heft to it, very thick, very heavy, but I love the aluminum finish, build quality is excellent.

I will see you guys at my full review of the Motorola Devour!
