Why AT&T’s New Data Plans stink

We didn’t post the new data plans since we were doing the SOPA blackout yesterday, but AT&T have posted that they will launch new data plans starting this Sunday the 22nd. The new data plans are as followed:

  • 200MB for $20
  • 3GB for $30
  • 5GB (w/hotspot) for $50

Those plans aren’t great, but you get more data, but more more money. The first two plans add $5 more dollars to the plans we have today. These plans seem more competitive because they offer more data, but they don’t because its more money. I’m guessing the $30 plan will be the most popular for new AT&T switchers, but if you’re still grandfather that unlimited plan for $30 like me, I wouldn’t even think about touching my account, or you would be forced to go to the 3GB plan.

This at least will give you more data to play with, and with the upcoming PS Vita on AT&T and 4G LTE devices, the 3GB should be sufficient for one month. (not for this geek). But for the general public, it should be fine!

What do you guys and girls think about AT&T’s new data plans? Are you switching from the $25 2GB for the 3GB? It’s 5 bucks less expensive if you do so! Leave you’re comments below!
