iOS 6 Review
WWDC has given us a lot of hardware on the Mac side of Apple’s family tree but what about the iOS side? They need some love too. Apple has debuted iOS 6 the next generation of “The world’s most advanced operating system”, Apple claim. It features new stuff life FaceBook Integration, a Smarter Siri, and some minor enhancements and improvements to the UI. Take you’re way down, watch the video, and read all about iOS 6.
Smarter Siri
Siri is now very smart. It loves to talk sports, it likes to post on your Wall on Facebook. It even loves to open up applications for you now. I think overall Siri has taken another step towards becoming your personal assistant. Siri now has a few more jokes up its sleeve and it’s very knowledgable. If you ask it about next years Football schedule, it will give you a whole schedule, times and everything. Ask it about when The Avengers is playing at your local movie theater. It’s great!
Maps
Apple is trying to dominate the world and they seriously can’t do that with Google software loaded on there. Especially if that was their only way to deliver Maps. Apple now has their Application, simply dubbed. “Maps”. This is Apple’s own maps application that gives you real-time 3D rendering, turn-by-turn navigation, and one of the best 3D experiences called Fly-Over. It also updates you on real-time traffic and it will be updated by the users on current traffic information to be up-to-date information. It’s a little buggy currently, we are guessing because they are still switching on the service but I think it’s one of the best Maps application I have used.
Facebook Intergration
With iOS 5 Apple brought Twitter integration to the table, it would automatically sign you in to Twitter on the application. Also you could directly tweet pictures or websites with a push of a button. Now they took Twitter and Facebook to a whole new level. You can now use Siri to Tweet or post on Facebook. Also it will sign you in to both applications without you inputing anything. Pretty neat. ‘
Changes in the UI
Apple has made some changes to the way the UI looks. The task bar on the top now glows blue when you’re in applications, they have a whole new App Store app, and they have added a springboard type layout to the share button on photos. You can also share photos on PhotoStream to other people which is a pretty neat feature to send photos to family and friends. iOS 6 has been a pretty good OS change, there’s actually a lot of changes but only a few we’re highlighted by Apple and this review! We will post a new review after a couple of betas pass through and will report back!
