HTC RUU leaks giving us a look at Sensed Android 4.0

HTC Sense to a lot of people has been a overly bloated skin overlay that is too “bubbly” and resource heavy and impedes future Android updates. Ice Cream Sandwich to a lot of Android geeks is Google finally making a piece of software that doesn’t need skins, or overlays to add additional functionality.

So what does Sense + Ice Cream Sandwich equal? A lot of mixed feelings but I will let you figure it out yourself.

As you can see you from the screenshots, you can see that things have been toned down. Graphics have been flattened to be more in-line with ICS designs. There is no shortage of lock screen customization. Many of the elements from Sense 3.5 have been carried over. In Sense 4.0 there finally proper landscape support on the home screen and throughout the OS.

Two additional lock screen options have been added in Sense 4.0, a People widget option so that you can either call, text, or open contact information and a notifications view where you can go straight to the application that has the notification.

How Android geeks/purists will take the marriage has yet to be seen but its clear that HTC put a lot of care into refining Sense into the look and feel of Android 4.0. Hopefully at MWC at the end of February we can finally see some devices that have Sense 4.0 on board.
