CES is only one week away from the official kick off, and rumors are flying everywhere, hopefully all press attendees have their travel arrangements are already done, and people are getting bombarded by CES emails asking if you want to stop by! Instead of that, we are going to give you a little taste of CES before we even board our flight!
In the mobile department, we can expect an array of ‘quad-core’ processor devices. Motorola should have a big presence with their Tegra chips they have in their devices. Android Ice Cream Sandwich will almost certainly have a huge presence with all the other manufactures coming out with their Ice Cream Sandwich device. Some may also have custom skins. I would be completely taken away if HTC made a Sense UI over ICS in the short time they have had to play around with the operating system! Also, we can’t forget about Nokia! Not Symbian, but the huge presence of Windows Phone will be flooding the halls with new Windows Phone devices. Hopefully the first Dual-Core chip in a Windows Phone. Lumia 900, Ace, there all a whole bunch of rumors on Windows Phone 7 devices!
Honestly, this will be the third year that Tablets will have a huge presence at CES. This year will be packed of low-end tablets for Kindle Fire money, and then it will also be packed with super high-end tablets to compete with iPad, Galaxy Tab, and other high end tablets that are currently out on the market!
There is always a computer section, and the main ones we are looking at this year would be the use of USB 3.0 in some desktops, and even some laptops. But the big thing is thinness! Who can make the thinnest, fastest, and most powerful laptop? They are called Ultrabooks now, so we are sure we are going to hear the ‘best ultrabook’ term a whole lot.
Digital point-and-shoots are almost dead. DSLR’s are beginning to get into consumer price ranges with the fabulous Canon Rebel Series, Nikon D3000, and other new mirror less camera systems like the Nikon J1, Sony NEX 3 NEX 5, and Panasonic GF3. This year, we are hopefully awaiting Nikon’s first mirror less full DSLR camera, instead of getting the Nikon 1 series this year, but we still love the J1 and V1, heck Gadget Experts using both of those cameras constantly. But we are just waiting for some camera manufacture to introduce that system. Also, Canon is the only manufacture that doesn’t have a mirror less, portable camera, so we may have a new system from Canon themselves this year! New Rebel Series is probably in the works, and maybe some updates to the D series of cameras from Canon. At Nikon’s end, we are still waiting for the Nikon that has the mysterious 20 megapixels! Engadget earlier stated 20.12 megapixels, that was clever! But we always expect a huge selection of Cameras at CES.
TV’s are always a big presence, but no one really paid them much attention. But this year LG is hoping to change that. With all there press releases about LG’s new OLED 55-inch TV, this better be good. The first TV with a organic OLED display that delivers much more vibrant and clear picture than any LCD, LED, Plasma, or Projection. Also the motion rate will also be considerably higher than any we have seen on the market! That’s something I can’t wait to have a look at!
