Apple TV, just an updated box set?

We posted today that the 2010 model of the Apple TV on Amazon is said to ship in 2-5 weeks. This usually means that Apple is gearing up for the new launch of the updated version of the product. Now the issue is, Apple is working on an actual TV set, as said in Jobs’ book.

The updates in media is going to be full 1080P HD content instead of the 720P of the current model. Now we will probably see just an updated TV set this year, unless Apple surprises us. We also think that the Apple TV will be launched with the iPad 3, it makes sense if we are talking resolution, if the iPad 3 is rumored to have a 2048×1536 resolution, 1080P content should be something in common between these products.

    I just went to Best Buy to buy an Apple TV box but they were sold out. They searched for another store that had some in inventory, but not one store had one. The sales rep their system shows they will get some next weekend. He also said that most likely, the new Apple box will be coming out next month though its rumored. Do you have any ideas on when the new box will appear on store shelves?

    We will not see it in the new few months for a few reasons. 1) they don’t want to over shadow the iPad3, and 2) it just isn’t ready yet. There are some rumors going around, but nothing I would take to seriously right now.
