Spy shots of this small Maserati has us wondering if Maserati, the Fiat owned car company, is working on a smaller version of the Quattroporte. The Quattroporte has been the four-door luxury sedan that has a bit more flang too it, sort of like a car for the hit-man, Top Gear described it. With a vehicle like that, they worry about the passengers in the back more than the one sitting in front driving you. So if you have ever seen a Quattroporte, it’s pretty massive.
This new sub-sized one should offer some Italian competition to the Germans who are having it easy. This vehicle may offer some Italian competition to the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, and the Mercedes-Benz E class. Those cars have a starting price around $44K. That would be very impressive if this car has a price that is around there. Also, sources have told us that this new baby Quattroporte will have an engine that is directly ported over from Ferrari. Just imagine that, a car that is the same price as a boring but sensible 5-Series, but has that Italian Sports Cat sound track when you get lead feet. Wow.
The engines are speculated to be a Twin Turbo V6 for the economy model, the same 3.8 liter V8 that we have in the GranTurismo, and a new 6 Cyl. Diesel that developers 300 BHP and 500 pound-feet of torque. That’s an impressive lineup. Let’s cross our fingers and wait for an announcement!
