Recently tearing down of the 3rd gen Apple TV revealed that it uses the A5 processor that the iPad 2 uses. Even though on the official spec sheet, it lists it as being only a single core processor. Some were under the assumption that it was either just an A5 with one core disabled or bad A5′s that were just re-purposed. Further investigation led to discovering that this specific chip was made using a newer 32 nm process, in stark contrast to the 45 nm used by every other current Apple products. Perhaps a clue to what we could see in the next generation iPhone?
In this same tear down, it was also revelaed that the new Apple TV includes more RAM to handle the 1080p video streaming. This TV is still $99 and for what it is able to do, it is a very lucrative price
